St Michaels Priory Library
This is ‘A Look at a Book’ with a difference. The Celtic thread is a book created entirely from embroidery and related techniques.
Starting at 10.15 (for 10.30), during the morning the author/creator Janet Knox will show us the book in a series of slide-show images, explaining what thought and techniques lie behind each page. The book itself – a colourful and completely unique work – will also be on display. Janet will answer any questions that arise.
Following lunch, Janet will be offering a short workshop, during which participants will have the opportunity to be creative themselves.
Janet is an ecclesiastical embroiderer and an enthusiastic hand-and-machine stitcher, who welcomes all levels of expertise. The workshop, which ends at 3.15 pm, is for anyone who is happy to hold a needle.
Janet, from Dorset, writes the following about her book: “I took inspiration from the art and life of the very early Celts.
From the earliest workings on armour and stone monuments, to their close association with nature, this book is a labour of love to be shared”.
Cost of the morning (including lunch) £20.00. Cost for the whole day £25.00
